Dean Walsh

DEAN WALSH has been a co- collaborator and choreographer with RUCKUS since 2012 and was the movement consultant on RUCKUS’ 2013 major production, See In Me. Dean also works as mentor for young and emerging artists living with and without disability across Australia and is artistic consultant for integrated dance company, Murmuration Dance Theatre. Dean completed an Australia Council 2 year Fellowship in 2012 with which he extensively researched and developed new methods in how his dance and choreographic practice might engage with and reflect upon marine ecology and submerged human practices. His new choreographic system, known as PrimeOrderly, embraces the philosophies of embodied environmentalism.
Dean has been an influential member of the Australian dance and contemporary performance communities for the past 25 years. He has collaborated with many reputable Australian and international companies, individuals & festivals in performer / collaborator / designer / choreographer / director / mentor & teacher capacities, including: DV8 Physical Theatre in London & Australian Dance Theatre in Adelaide. He has a repertoire of over 30 solos and a full-length group piece, Back From Front. His works have been commissioned by major national and international festivals.
